Friday September 13th

Art/Literacy
Yesterday we learned about the artist Roy Lichtenstein  and discussed his Pop Art style. The students worked on creating a self-portrait from a photo and incorporated some aspects of this style. They continued with the dots and solids using three colours only to put their personal flavour into their own work. HOMEWORK -students need to come with a meaningful quote to go with their artwork on Monday. This quote should have a deep message, be personal to them and inspire/encourage themselves and others.

Science:
Yesterday was our first field study down by the pond. Students made observations of living and non-living things, sketched a variety of leaves and trees and identified several different deciduous and coniferous trees. HOMEWORK - students are asked to research the name of a specific grove of trees growing by the pond and come with answers for Monday.

Friday Journals
Please check your child's Friday Journal (pink book) that is coming home today and take some time to read the introduction letter in the front of the book. These journals are due back every Monday morning.
